12 Dec Google offers advice on removing penalties
In response to a question from a Google user in Manchester, Matt Cutts has explained how to overcome a penalty given by Google for a period in which many spammy inbound links have been acquired by a website.
How did Interflora turn their ban in 11 days? Can you explain what kind of penalty they had, how did they fix it, as some of us have spent months try to clean things up after an unclear GWT notification.
He describes how, if a company is found to have bought links and has had a penalty imposed. They may be able to have the penalty removed quickly if the spammy links were purchased on bad advice or by a disreputable SEO company during a specific time period. Disavowing all links gained during that period could see the ban removed in 11 days as in the case of Interflora.
