Famo.us HTML5 and Javascript framework for building beautiful and superfast user interfaces

Yesterday, at the San Francisco HTML5 Developer’s Conference, Steve Newcomb, the founder of Famo.us, presented a demo of the company’s HTML5 development platform that promises to solve most of the headaches associated with developing web pages and applications in HTML5.

Up until now, developers have struggled with performance issues when developing for tablets, mobiles and desktop computers using Javascript and HTML5, forcing them instead to work in the mobile-native operating systems (iOS and Android.)

Steve Newcomb, told the conference that the Famo.us platform has solved all of the developers problems by bypassing all of these browser issues and communicating directly with the device’s GPU (Graphical Processing Unit.) and because the platform is built solely on Javascript and HTML5, there are no browser plugins to install.

But more importantly, the Famo.us framework not only works well in 2D designs such as an interactive blog layout incorporating video, images and text, but can manipulate hunderds of 3D objects at 60 frames per second to create lavish user interfaces where the objects are all controlled by a sophisticated physics engine.  Watch the demo given by Steve Newcomb at last year’s Startup Battlield below.

The Famo.us platform is being made available free to single developers who sign up via their website.
